ENDLESS LIST OF ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS: PETER BENTON

Dr. Benton is an intern’s worst nightmare. He’s smarter than you. He never eats, never sleeps, and he reads every medical journal, no matter how obscure. He is the Antichrist, Beelzebub, Lucifer, a devourer of wedges. You’ll go to sleep at night wishing pestilence on his unborn children and you will wake up every morning praying for his approval. You won’t get it.

I am totally normal and would never murder a person without a GOOD REASON for doing so, that being said, I’m having this problem where the corpse I stored under my floorboards is making a weird heartbeat sound and was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if you know any tips, tricks, quick fixes etc for this because it’s inconvenient and very annoying thank you and God Bless

ENDLESS LIST OF MY FAVORITE CREATIVE WORKS: FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC

Hearing the maids move about, laughing and chatting, while the grandmother hovered near the closet door directing them to clean the mirrors, use the lemon wax, air the mattresses – it all gave me the queerest feeling. Why didn’t those maids notice something different? Didn’t we leave any odour behind to let them know Cory often wet his bed? It was as if we really didn’t exist, and weren’t alive, and the only scents we had were imaginary. We wrapped our arms about each other and held on to each other tightly, tightly.

“Interviewer: How eager or not eager is [John Silver] to take on this mantle at this point?

Luke Arnold: It’s a little bit of both. He’s now very invested in this world. He always used to say he didn’t believe in Flint…He’s now part of it. It’s really the two of them ready to take this war to the world. And I think as well, Madi is really integral to giving him the confidence to take that up. I think everyone around him…he has relationships with Billy, Madi, Flint, all the Walrus Crew. And I think as a guy who never wanted to be a part of anything before, who was not a joiner, because of these relationships he’s starting to feel a part of this war, a part of this group of brothers, and I think is feeling the potential that he could take up that mantle and be the Long John Silver who starts this revolution.

Inteviewer: The relationship between Flint and Silver is very complicated, lots of back and forth…They are allies right now but is there always like, I don’t know if it was a threat or not, but [Silver] said maybe I could be here to succeed you, so is there a strange dynamic still between them?

Luke Arnold: I think there is but I think that, in this world, they’re about as close as two friends can be, and that was the acknowledgment in that scene. I think it was less a threat but the acknowledgment that they’re really close. And also when he finds out about Flint’s backstory, he knows how self-destructive Flint is, but also how destructive as a force he is to those around him. But he’s also aware of the power Silver has now. [Silver]’s managed to very quickly rise up to a high position of power in this world. So…I think it’s less a threat but more just acknowledging where they’re both sitting in the moment. And being such good friends, as honest as they are with each other in that moment, I think it’s kind of a surprise to both of them that they ended up there.”

Last year marked the two-hundredth anniversary of the eruption of Indonesia’s Mount Tambora, among the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. This year marks the two-hundredth anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Next year, 2017, will be the two-hundredth anniversary of Baron Karl Drais’s “running machine,” the precursor to the modern bicycle. Strange as it may seem, these three events are all intimately related; they’re all tied together by the great shift in climate that made 1816 the “year without a summer.”

The climate event that helped create Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and the bicycle.

In an ironic twist, Trump is now facing an email scandal

Donald Trump has sought to make the issue of Hillary Clinton’s emails a defining one. But he has a habit of destroying and deleting thousands of emails and documents amid the thousands of lawsuits surrounding his business empire, according to a Newsweek analysis. He’s been doing for a long time.

At the rate we get new “Trump explicitly does the same things he accuses his opponents of” stories, I expect that by election day, we’ll discover A: His dad was involved in the plot to kill JFK, and B: He was born in Kenya to non-American parents.

Well, I look forward to “Donald Trump discovered as founder of ISIS” and “Donald Trump found guilty of rigging elec-” oh wait.

Drawn for The Raven Arcana (@trcfanzine) which was incredibly organized and great to be a part of. Many thanks to the editors crowloop and cloven for putting it all together!

I went with a fairly traditional route for this one–classical symbolism (the sun, the angel, foliage to represent spring and new growth) and simple flat colours, hearkening back to old-school tarot decks.
