Dean + holy spaces/religious iconography as representative of the divine without echoing the divine within (2x13, 4x22, 13x06)
#in the first image from ‘houses of the holy’ he’s still carrying survivor’s guilt in regards to john’s death #he spends much of the episode in a skeptical role; deriding belief; but still the actions he takes are for the good #then at the end there’s the scene where he tells sam he can’t explain what he witnessed; that it was like ‘god’s will’ #(this is also the first time angels are brought up narratively) #in the second image from ‘lucifer rising’ he’s just had that argument with castiel where he tells him that 'god’s plan’ is 'a bunch of lies’ #and then he enters st. mary’s convent in an attempt to save sam and we see those flickering candles; those flames in the darkness #the last image from 'tombstone’ is when cas has yet again returned from the dead #but the thing is…dean has just risen from the dead again himself #so you get that trinity: father; son; holy ghost - and dean is representative of those essences as a coalescence #he’s messianic but in the MOST human of ways; giving of himself to try and save others for no purpose other than the repairing of the world #they are believers but he is belief; they seek salvation and he thinks he isn’t worthy of it so instead he strives to do the saving #he is the silver thread knotted through each of them #dean asks questions and pushes back against faith very understandably but ultimately there’s divinity etched into his bones #he can’t escape the signs of it everywhere; following him; pressing in on him; an orbit chasing the sun #and it’s not a blessing; it’s a weight; the constancy of living; trapped transcendence #the burden of the divine was never meant to rest in a human being and even Death herself won’t allow him to die #so he’s left with all these pieces; neon signs and knocking down doors and unanswered prayers under open skies #he’s a hero on his own merit and for his own bravery but he also was given no choice initially; he was celestially created for that purpose #that divinity is alluring; vulnerable; iridescent to others; but for him it can be perilous #it’s no small wonder he resists against the framework of it; just as others make him an icon; just as the cosmos never stops in its pursuit #so on a very resonant level in my mind these lyrics tie into that idea #(wishes bounce me weightless; the infrared scope on pointlessness) #(this fight’s fixed) (via saferincages)

So I work at a video game store in a mall and across the hall from us is this really nice suit shop. One day one of the guys came in an asked if they could use our microwave (the store they used to go to closed down) and we bargined for use of their bathroom in return since the mall bathrooms are like a 5 min trek.
So for like three months now we just have these men in really nice suits come in and talk while using our microwave and teach them about nerdy shit? Then I, the goblin king in various shitty tee shirts and paint stained pants, walk into their super expensive store and just get greeted with “Yo dude what’s good?” and talk about the pains of steaming silken dress shirts properly and it’s my favorite business interaction every day
A new jewelry store opened up right next to our store and when I used the bathroom today we were talking about it. I hate it on principle (they flooded our systems closet during building) and immediately both Suit Guys™ working went on mini rants. “Their suits are baggy as hell, I wouldn’t trust them to sell me a $9,000 ring when they can’t get a fitted jacket. They look so unprofessional, ” and “I saw one of the dude’s wearing a teal shirt. It’s fall, and you go with teal? At least get a color to match your store if you’re gonna ignore the seasons like that, Christ, but teal is awful.”
I live for this commentary fam.

here’s a hot take: giftwrap is dumb, 95% of the time you can just hand someone the thing and accomplish the same task. Society has conditioned us to love wrapping shit up for no reason, probably by gift wrap industry people.
