The Roman Empire was the post-Roman Republic period of the ancient Roman civilization, and lasted approximately 1,500 years compared to the 500 years of the Republican era. The first two centuries of the empire’s existence were a period of unprecedented political stability and prosperity known as the Pax Romana, or “Roman Peace”. Following Octavian’s victory, the size of the empire was dramatically increased, including territories around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa and Asia. At its height (c. 117 AD), it was the most extensive political and social structure in western civilization. By 285 AD the empire had grown too vast to be ruled from the central government at Rome and so was divided by Emperor Diocletian into a Western and an Eastern Empire. The Roman Empire began when Augustus Caesar became the first emperor of Rome and ended, in the west, when the last Roman emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was deposed by the Germanic King Odoacer, in 476 AD. In the east, it continued as the Byzantine Empire until the death of Constantine XI and the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453. The influence of the Roman Empire on western civilization was profound in its lasting contributions to virtually every aspect of western culture.

how to know if tumblr has been eating your asks: send yourself anywhere between 5-10 asks, ( anon or not ) but have each ask be nothing but an order in which you sent them.

i.e: the first ask says ‘1′, the second says ‘2′, etc etc.

i sent myself ten of these, both on anon and not. This was all i received back:

Alright, it’s my birthday this Friday (June 15th) and while I’m in no way expecting anything from anyone, I would really love it if people would be able to donate and/or raise awareness for Angel and her fight with cancer.

If you want more details about Angel and her illness you can check out this post and also her owner, @saferincages blog.

Angel is a registered emotional support dog for @saferincages and is very special to her (like all dogs are to their owners). Since Jess (saferincages) and her mother are unable to work due to illness they need all the support they can get to prevent them from losing everything.

So far $1,035 of $5,000 has been raised and we are so, so grateful for that. Thank you to everyone who has donated.

I get that there’s a whole lot going on in the world and that everyone has their own issues, so if you’re in a position to donate that would be great. Any amount, even $5 is so appreciated. If you’re unable to donate then we just ask to spread her campaign over social media to raise awareness.

If donating by credit card isn’t an option I can and will take donations via PayPal. You can be 100% certain that every cent (that PayPal doesn’t take for fees) will go directly to Angel and her treatment. Please message me for my info.
